Hemp Farming Act has been attached to the Senate version of the 2018 Farm Bill, which is expected to become law this year.
All of us at Green Gorilla are EXTREMELY pleased to hear that today the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee passed the Farm Bill by an overwhelming 20-1 vote. The farm Bill, which includes hemp legalization legislation backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, will now head to the Senate floor. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has added his support to the bill and we are looking forward to this becoming law sometime this year.
This is an amazing step forward for the hemp industry and manufacturers of CBD products, and we are eager that industrial hemp will likely be removed from the list of controlled substances under federal law. McConnell stated that “I think it’s time we took this step. I think everybody has figured it out that this isn’t the other plant,” referring to the cannabis plant. The Farm bill gets renewed every five years, with the current version set to expire Sept. 30. The previous Farm Bill relaxed hemp laws and allowed farmers in a handful of states to grow the crop as part of research projects.
As government becomes increasingly supportive of the value of hemp and CBD, we will have greater opportunities to bring this natural product and its wealth of health benefits, to our consumers across the country and ultimately around the world.
Thank you for your continued support of Green Gorilla and we look forward to bringing you more great Green Gorilla products.
